About

My Story

My name is Ryan, and I’m the founder of Kratom Quit.

I’m in recovery from kratom and 7-OH. What started in 2018 as something I thought was a harmless, natural supplement turned into a seven-year on-and-off battle.

Like a lot of people, I was introduced to it casually. Someone offered it to me at a hot springs and framed it as something healthy. At the time, it didn’t seem like a big deal.

It didn’t stay that way.

At my peak, I was spending around $8,000 a month, taking 6–8 extract shots a day along with tianeptine, and eventually moving into 7-OH. What started as occasional use became something I needed just to feel normal.

I tried to quit more times than I can count.

I went to my first rehab in 2019, followed by multiple detoxes and treatment programs. I was never someone who could taper successfully, and trying to quit at home never worked for me. With a smoke shop within walking distance, as long as I had money, relapse was always right there.

For me, being removed from my environment wasn’t optional. It was necessary.

I needed structure. I needed to be somewhere I couldn’t walk out and undo everything the moment things got hard.

What eventually worked for me was a combination of:

  • Rehab to get through the physical withdrawal
  • 12-step meetings to stay accountable
  • And medication support (for me, Vivitrol)

That won’t look the same for everyone. But trying to figure it out alone is where most people get stuck.

If you’re in a similar place, the next step doesn’t have to be complicated.

Our Mission

I created this site to make the process of quitting kratom and 7-OH clearer and more manageable than it was for me.

Kratom Quit is an educational resource, not a medical provider or treatment center. The purpose is to share grounded information, lived experience, and options people can discuss with qualified professionals when more support may help.

Kratom and 7-OH are not the same as traditional opioids. The withdrawal can feel like coming off a mix of a benzo, an antidepressant, and an opiate all at once.

Many treatment programs are not specifically familiar with kratom or 7-OH withdrawal.

I’ve been in rehabs where the staff had little to no experience with kratom. When you are already at a low point, that mismatch can make the experience harder and more confusing than it needs to be.

The goal here is simple:

  • Help you understand what’s happening
  • Help you figure out what level of support makes sense
  • And share more informed options

No one has to guess their way through something like this.

If you’re not sure where to start

Most people don’t come here with a clear plan. If you’re trying to figure out what your next step should be, start here:

You don’t have to figure this out on your own

Some people do this on their own. Others do better with structure. Both are valid.
